Low Income Tax Clinic / Kansas City Tax Clinic

The Low Income Tax Clinic a/k/a the Kansas City Tax Clinic assists individuals with federal tax controversies. UMKC faculty will supervise law students as they provide legal and professional services to qualified clients.

Services include:

  • United States Tax Court submission and representation
  • Assistance with IRS income tax audits
  • Assistance with IRS collection alternatives including:
    • Offer in compromise submissions
    • Installment agreements
    • Currently not collectable status
    • Collection Due Process submission and hearings
  • Assistance with filing DELINQUENT federal income tax returns
  • Innocent Spouse representation
  • The clinic is NOT a tax preparation service for current year taxes. This service is handled by VITA.
