The Entrepreneurial Legal Services Clinic and the Intellectual Property Clinic deliver legal advice and facilitate the delivery of professional business planning and intellectual property services to owners of small businesses – both existing and start-ups — who cannot afford the market rates for those services.

The CLEI is home to the UMKC-LAWMO Self Help Clinic, where attorneys and law students leverage technology and innovative methods of legal services delivery. The clinic helps individuals represent themselves on civil disputes arising out of Jackson, Clay, and Platte counties. 

CLEI partners with UMKC Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic to serve clients who have a federal tax controversy and meet the Low-Income guidelines established by the Internal Revenue Code. The clinic provides legal services on a pro-bono (no cost) basis.
